Cinnamon is more than just a great spice and those who consume it daily have reaped some wonderful benefits, including weight loss. Cinnamon is a great source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium. It has a long history of use in many cultures as a staple for overall health and as an alternative medicine. It can be used for colds, nausea, constipation, diarrhea and helps those who suffer with digestive issues and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).According to a study performed at Copenhagen University, patients that were given half a teaspoon of cinnamon combined with one tablespoon of honey every morning before breakfast had significant relief in arthritis pain after one week. Other studies have shown that consuming a half teaspoon daily can help lower LDL cholesterol.
Cinnamon is know to increase energy and speed up the metabolism and as a result your body will burn more calories which will aid in weight loss. It’s also being studied for it’s ability to stabilize blood sugar levels, great news for those with Type 2 Diabetes. Maintaining insulin and blood sugar levels is essential for Diabetes as well as an essential component of a weight loss plan.

Drinking cinnamon tea is a great way to obtain the many benefits cinnamon has to offer. Many who suffer from poor circulation benefit from drinking this satisfying tea. You can buy cinnamon tea, but you will get more out of making your own. Simply take a cinnamon stick (or small pieces) and steep it in boiling water, or add to your favorite tea. Steep for 10 minutes and enjoy the wonderful flavor.

It doesn’t matter how you consume the cinnamon as long as you eat it on a regular basis. Keep a container of cinnamon readily available so that you can add it to your meals every day. Sprinkle it on pears, apples, mix in your oats or yogurt, or add to your favorite recipes.
